Asbestos Encapsulation

What is Asbestos Encapsulation?

Asbestos encapsulation is a method used to treat and seal off the potentially harmful asbestos fibres using an approved acrylic rubber top coat. This bonds and waterproofs the asbestos panels, and keeps the fire retardancy of the panels in play. The top coat also acts as a UV resistant layer, giving them a longer life span.

The quality finish gives you a completely penetrated substrate surface. There are always airborne asbestos fibres present with asbestos removal. When you encapsulate the panels in advance, you remove the airborne contamination and the substrate is perfectly insulated.

The Benefits

Asbestos encapsulation within a seamless, protective coating is possibly the safest and most cost effective method of asbestos management.

It involves relatively little disturbance of the asbestos, therefore minimizing risk.

No need to remove the asbestos

Encapsulation only cost 25% of the cost of Asbestos Removal.

  • Encapsulation penetrates and encapsulates all present asbestos fibres with a rubbery compound, expands, bends and contracts with any building movements.

  • Materials are UV stabilized materials giving a longer life.

  • Encapsulation only cost 25% of the cost of Asbestos Removal.

  • Materials are water-based, non-toxic, non-combustible, quick and easy to clean up.

  • Encapsulation creates a non-hazardous work environment.

  • Penetrates through surface material to re-attach loose fibres, binding all material to the original substrate.

  • Provides continuous fire protection

  • Is easy to apply with professional airless spraying equipment

  • Dries clear and will not change aesthetic properties.

  • Rubberized top coats come in any color of your choice

  • Extends the shelf life of materials

  • No downtime for your production or operation. With asbestos removal, all personnel need to be removed from the premises for an extended period, buildings need to be in lockdown, it takes time to demolish an remove asbestos panels and the airborne asbestos fibers can stay on the premises (soil contamination) and in the air for an extended period – depending on the activity and climate. Encapsulation with modern tech materials, can last you decades if maintained properly and non-abrasive treatment of the panels is avoided.
